So it has been three whole days since Eli has woken up without pooping and/or throwing up all over his freshly replaced sheets and bumper pads. Is it safe to spend 45 minutes putting the whole bed ensemble back together? It took me a good week of washing it all every single day and putting it all back together before I wised up and just put a blanket over the mattress. So now the bedding is all sitting in a corner just waiting to be put to use...I swear though, there will definitely be an inevitable amount of resentment toward my child if I put it all back together and he sullies it with diarrhea or throw up tomorrow morning...I know, I know. Poor Eli, so sick. I'm the mean, cruel mother who thinks about what a pain it is to wash sheets everyday when her child is sick. Yucky virus, blah blah blah. Yeah, he's been sick. But come on people, focus on me. Put the bed back together or no? Is this nasty thing over yet? See, these are the complex problem solving requirements of motherhood that few people consider when embarking (whether deliberately or inadvertently) on the whole parent journey. So what do I do? I'm going to do laundry and I expect some advice by this evening before he has to go to sleep.

I have a lot of experience with this...do it! Mostly I just didn't want you to return tonight comment-less, but I also have much faith in Eli's digestive system. Put the sheets on! Love you

I hope he's better for your sake...and for mine as he was over at my house yesterday!
I've never tried the just-a-blanket trick. I'll remember that one.

Ash all i am going to say is i only lasted two days on the sheets when stella was sick after that i threw down a comfy blanket and called it good. I think the worst thing about mother hood is getting those darn sheets and bumper pad put back together i dread it every week...

So I just tried to post a comment and there was an error! How annoying! Anyway, I totally feel your pain! I always put towels on my girls bed so I don't ruin my good blankets. Babies r us sells some sheets that you snap onto your nice clean ones for a quick clean up. Not so nice when there are more than one a night however! Good luck, you will almost always be surprised with a yummy treat when you least expect it! I hope Eli is felling better!

I use the snap on sheets, I have 3 that I used with Ella and they are still great. Though if I forget to snap them before I wash them the elastic gets weird and twisty. From the side all you see is the cute matching sheet, but the top is the white waterproof sheet. I hated changing sheets, especially in the middle of the night, but this way even lazy me changes the sheet every week.

I know I'm late...but don't put the bed back together! Savanna had the virus all last week and it lasted about 5 days. It was so sad, but I was tired of the vomit and diarrhea too. just watch out! cause I ended up getting it next. So wash your hands, don't share towels or cups. and change your tooth brushes asap.

You crack me up! I am the same, always thinking of how gross it is for me when my kids are sick.. they will live through it, but I might not! By the way, how can you not love Disneyland. Did you forget it's the happiest place on earth?
